The Department of Political Science, South Malda College, affiliation under University of Gour Banga. The college itself was founded in 1995 and serves students from the rural and adjoining areas of Kaliachak Block III, Baishnabnagar of  Malda district. The department offers undergraduate courses in Political Science, including major and minor programs under  NEP-2020 curricula. It focuses on building students’ understanding of political theory, Indian government, public administration, international relations, and democratic values. The department aims to develop critical thinking, civic awareness, and research skills among students through classroom teaching, seminars, academic activities, and student participation in co-curricular programs. It plays an important role in promoting higher education and social awareness in the region.
